… aka the human behind the shiny black box:)

Me, briefly:
Texan. American. Christian. Daughter. Sister. Dog lover (and owner). Owned by a feline. Wordy. Bookworm. Photographer. Blogger. Overachieving. Loyal. Travel addict. Wallflower.

By day, I am employed in the public sector. The rest of the time I am a photographer.

As a child I first picked up my grandfather’s 110 camera and pretended to take photos (although sometimes I did accidently when I didn’t know there was film in it!). Christmas 1987 Santa brought me my own camera and since then, a hobby grew in importance over time. Many cameras (and lots of money) later, I followed the suggestions of friends and family and turned my hobby into a second career in 2007. Pets were one of my first photo subjects, so in the fall of 2009, I made the decision to branch out into pet portraiture as well.

From day one, I’ve spent my life surrounded by dogs. The greatest judge of character I’ve ever known was my Wilbur, an Australian Cowdog that entered my family when both him and my brother were six months old. Before him, Boo, a Chow mix, had my back as a toddler. Three mischievious canines, Ladd, Mickey, and Bash — a Coyote/Mutt mix, a Cocker Spaniel mix, and a Blue Heeler/Catahoula mix respectively, made sure life was never boring. From March 2003 until May 2011, the sweetest boy ever, another Australian Cowdog by the name of Rascal, greeted me when I returned home daily; sadly he lost a hard fought battle against a tick illness recently. I also have the craziest pup dog ever, Tater, a Beagle/Blue Heeler/Catahoula mix who believes nothing will stand in his way and will *remodel* when necessary!

Since age 11, cats have found their way into my home and heart as well. From the independent Miss Sweets and the bossy Pee Wee, to the lovable and attention hungry Yaz and Queen of the Farm Miz Pokie, I’ve yet to have two felines with identical personalities.
